Gum Disease (Periodontal)
Periodontal Disease is an inflammatory disease that attacks the gums, bones and other supporting structures of the teeth. Caused by a build up of plaque, it can cause serious dental problems if not treated effectively.
Symptoms of Periodontal Disease may include:
- Bleeding gums whilst brushing or flossing your teeth
- Pain while chewing
- Red, sore, swollen gums
- Build up of calculus (tartar)
- Bad breath or bad taste
- Loss of teeth sensitivity to hot and cold
- Changes in bite
- Gums that have withdrawn from teeth in between teeth
