Sleep dentistry, or twilight sedation dentistry, is a dental solution designed for patients who dread going to the dentist. People with a busy schedule may also prefer sleep dentistry to allow all of their treatment to be done in one visit, where possible.
Many people feel afraid or uncomfortable when they are placed in vulnerable positions like the dental chair, and may experience dental anxiety as a result. Dr. Oberoi has several years of experience in treating cases under sedation and wants you to feel as comfortable as possible while he takes care of your teeth.
What are the different kinds of pain free dentistry in Sydney?
The common types of pain free dentistry where there is conscious sedation are inhalation sedation, intravenous, and intramuscular sedation.
- Inhalation sedation dentistry: Nitrous oxide-oxygen, or ‘happy’ gas is given to the patient. Patients are awake but mentally detached from what is going on. Recovery time is quick and you can go back to work or home right after your visit.
- Intravenous conscious sleep dentistry: An intravenous drip is attached to the patient, along with blood pressure, breathing and rate rate monitors. The patient is awake but will remember nothing. Patients must have someone to take them home after treatment.
- General anaesthesia: An injection is given to put the patient put them to sleep while being monitored by an anaesthetist. Patients will need someone to collect them after the procedure.
After a thorough examination of your teeth and for as little as an extra $450 Dr. Oberoi can schedule you in for a sleep dentistry appointment.
